RDL’s new headquarters features a column-free interior designed for highly efficient, scalable production.
Located in an industrial area outside Rotterdam, the new RDL headquarters will integrate the company's production plant, R&D department, and administrative offices. The building's clean, minimalist form is tailored to the client's operational needs, enabling a highly efficient and scalable production workflow.
The streamlined exterior contrasts with the main hall’s structural framework, which features geometrically shaped and spatially expressive frame members. The lower third of the factory utilizes a timber structure clad in horizontal, ribbed GRC panels with alternating smooth and rough finishes. These panels extend beyond the main facade to define the entrance yard, which serves as both a parking area and a loading bay.

The upper volume is enclosed by a double-skin, translucent polycarbonate screen that filters natural light to create a bright, comfortable working environment.
At night, this facade produces a glowing "lantern" effect, giving the building a distinct, recognizable identity. Inside, tapered glue-laminated beams easily span the entire width of the main hall, delivering a column-free interior that optimizes the production process.
